The Importance of Intersectionality in the Practice of Psychology Home Study

Participants will be introduced to the concept of intersectionality and how this framework may be used in the practice of psychology. The presenter will first define intersectionality, and then discuss how mental health professionals may incorporate intersectionality into three aspects of their clinical practice: therapy, assessment, and supervision. The presentation will end by discussing ways may enact intersectionality to promote social justice and equity.
1. Participants will describe the historical roots and meaning of intersectionality.
2. Participants will identify ways to incorporate intersectionality into their clinical practice (therapy, assessment, and supervision).
3. Participants will explain how intersectionality may be used to address systemic inequities influencing mental health service utilization.
